Project 1
Reading the Contexts of Traditional Street
Project task
Students are required to choose one from the given traditional streets from KL and Malacca and conduct a physical site visit. Students also need to produce eight pages of sketches demonstrating understanding of the street's distinct physical and non-physical contexts and a summary of the distinctiveness of place contexts and how such distinctiveness may be affected by rapid development and modernisation.
FINAL OUTCOME
FINAL OUTCOME
REFLECTION
In this project, through sketching analysis, I was able to efficiently present the relationship between architecture and its social, cultural, and place contexts. I can identify the tangible and intangible qualities in Jalan Hang Kasturi which have their own unique definition. Besides, this project also helped me to develop my skills in drawing and sketching. I was able to manage my time effectively since needed to conduct sufficient research via site visit and internetï¼› create eight pages of sketches and a 300-word summary in a short amount of time.
